Dried and preserved empty gourds will last for many years. Rinse gourd under warm running water, wash gently with a few drops of liquid dishwashing soap, then rinse them thoroughly. As you wash the gourds, handle them carefully to avoid damaging the outside paint. Let them dry upside down for a few hours and hang them in a dry, shaded and well-ventilated spot. The shade will preserve the natural color of the gourds.
